When we had a communal bin installed in our street, as a result of a few neighbours refusing wheely bins, it was decided it would be outside our flat - not happy!

Plans were issues and a council man came round, measured up, and marked the kerb with some yellow hieroglyphs.

Under cover of darkness (and possibly alcohol) I burned off the yellow marker paint and repainted it 10m or so up the street - outside one of the wheely bin deniers houses as it happens. A few days later a team arrived and marked out the bin road for the bin in the alternative location. Job done.

So far as I know, the bin is still in the modified location.

Chinese bloke in original story something of a hero with a good grasp of desirable modal shift in transport.

On several occassions I have been tempted to paint a solid white line between the two lanes on Forrest Road to stop drivers coming from Teviot Place immediately changing lanes as per the van in the picture.
