    "Figures show that Edinburgh spends less on sport per head than any other council in Scotland at a rate less than half of that in Glasgow. Now, its lone sporting showpiece is set to disappear."

    No idea how that is calculated, but if true, it's interesting/worrying/odd.

    If it includes capital spending, Glasgow is bound to have spent much more in recent years (and is still doing so).

    This story is about funding an event.

    Whether that is 'sport' or 'economic development' is another question.

    Edinburgh spends more on the arts and culture per head than other councils possibly?
    So many festivals in the city I've lost count of them all. Presume city provides some funds most if not all of them.
