Any recommendations for home insurance covering bicycles? Any to avoid?

The requirements of some to secure the cycle to a ground anchor with a high end lock inside the garage...are incompatible with the reality of day to day living.

    Thanks

We've got contents insurance through Tesco, and I've been really impressed with them. Our garage has been broken into and bikes stolen twice in the past 4 months and both times within 24 hours we've had a voucher for the full value of the bikes and any accessories which can be used to purchase like for like replacements (I have a feeling our payments might go up when our policy renews...).
In both cases they valued the bikes as new, as opposed to the actual condition when they were stolen.

Yeah my mate has had two bikes stolen, one from Tesco Corstorphine where it was (imo) poorly secured, and he got a like for like replacement both times from Tesco insurance. Its getting to the stage where it doesn't get dirty. His premiums haven't significantly changed.

I moved mine to Tesco Bank after that.

My AA home insurance has the correct small print to cover the bike out and about. But I switch every year for the cashback so I'll be checking that Tesco price next time.

We use esure and have for a number of years because they don't ask awkward questions about the height and proximity of our tree collection. They also allow us to include all our bikes as specified items and were very easy to deal with when we had a plumbing explosion last year.

We are in the process of renewing and everywhere else appears to be at least 50% more expensive or not interested in our business.

I may be missing something but Tesco seems to limit any given bike to £1000 and a full stable to just £2500 so not great for a cycling family.

I went with Pedalcover. They were happy to include the torpedo among the collection of bikes.

Thanks, folks. Sounds like Tesco and esure worth checking out.

AXA aka SwiftCover were just too enthusiastic about bumping up the renewal premium way up for no reason.
