When will your favourite be done?
CityCyclingEdinburgh was launched on the 27th of October 2009 as "an experiment".
IT’S TRUE!
CCE is 16years old!
Well done to ALL posters
It soon became useful and entertaining. There are regular posters, people who add useful info occasionally and plenty more who drop by to watch. That's fine. If you want to add news/comments it's easy to register and become a member.
RULES No personal insults. No swearing.

THe past two days I have been on some exceptional new routes in the City, far better than the current roads. Not new to many and indeed thy are routes I used to use but changed from.
So - fantastic routes now around Murrayfield then up the beside the tram
also
lovely pebbles all the way nearly down the hell that was Chesser Ave (this was early doors so not sure what the drivers do given they have lost a lane to pebbles)?
then on NEPN (not even new to me but I am rejoicing) then through Vicky park
Then after my meeting , skipped to Casa Amiga for the pastels de nata then used the leith walk cycle way which was great. Obviously it ends then it degenerates into madness at John Lewis but in fact even in the madness there is a cycle way where the cars can't go
Well done City of Edinburgh Council, keep up the good work
“Well done City of Edinburgh Council, keep up the good work”
People might think you’re in CEC’s pay.
Of course the ‘problem’ isn’t keeping up the good work, more that that it’s so slooooww.
(And there’s too much bad work and far too much timidly/out of date thinking.)
Should we expect a ramp onto the new section of the Roslin to Shawfair path from Gilmerton Road to be on this list (which it isn't) or to be delivered by Sustrans? The absence of such a facility is a little frustrating.
Suspect Sustrans have it planned.
But worth asking.
“
I see finalisation of Porty to Leith is in the hold bucket; but when this is back active can we first consider the route? Going via Leith Links is a significant detour, which then leads to a non-direct meander through Leith. Instead the off-road path should continue direct...
“
It's as expected, given recent briefings from Spokes and the Active Travel Forum aired on here. Many smaller schemes delayed by lack of staff and re-prioritisation of resources to deliver large prestige Community Links + funded schemes.
On the positive side, lots of "shovel ready" schemes ready to spring into action as soon as resources allow.....which as we know, is the way to get things done (eventually).
“as soon as resources allow”
Well it’s not like there’s no money/budget.
WHEN will CEC sort out its AT staffing???
"Well it’s not like there’s no money/budget."
Except that much of that is now going into match funding large prestige Sustrans funded schemes. Which is not a bad thing, but smaller, non match funded schemes are delayed.
And yes the staffing issue...
yes slow, i am expressing my delight but also my surprise that these things have finally happened. however, i am celebrating they have happened.
“Which is not a bad thing, but smaller, non match funded schemes are delayed.

Sure, but much money, over many years, has been spent on consultants - particularly to design stuff.
Which is fine as an extra ‘help out’, but has become a way of shadow staffing, which can’t be cost effective.
@amir, @Frenchy seemed to have info that the access ramp is due to happen later in the year. Something about disturbing badgers.
@amir - Yes, Sustrans are planning on building it late 2018. They didn't get planning permission in time to do it with the rest of the path, and can only do the work in the autumn due to badgers living nearby.
Thanks @Trixie and @Frenchy
It is quite depressing the slowness of delivering these.
I have ideas for many other projects (not in Simon Parker esq way) that aren't on this list at all.
Am I naive to think that Humza's Task Force's report might actually tackle the speed of delivery.
I hate to think what it is like in less enlightened council's...
Yes Hankchief I fear you are being naive to think Hamza will move things on
