A cyclist was knocked off their bike at the Murrafield Gardens/A8 junction this evening. Witnessed the bike (and car number plate) being pulled out from under the front bumper. I stopped and checked if the cyclist was ok. He didn't seem to be in the best of shape to be honest - I hope it was mostly just shock!

    Hope everyone involved is ok.

It's a nasty junction, that. When heading east, the queue of cars for the traffic lights often wave/flash their lights to allow westbound vehicles to go ahead and turn up Murrayfield Avenue, or exiting vehicles to turn westbound. But of course, no-one checks if anything is coming along the Greenway. The turning vehicles are usually so desperate for a gap that when waved across, they just floor it.

While assessing all this, a cyclist is at the same time watching out for vehicles exiting from Murrayfield Gardens and Murrayfield Place, all in the the space of 50 yards. It's pretty dreadful design.
