Edinburgh like NYC!

    Bike lanes are only ever part of the answer, anyway. Changing driver attitudes is just as important. I can’t believe the fury of some NYC motorists if a cyclist has the temerity to get ahead of them in traffic. This kind of NYT coverage just feeds the mindset that thinks bikes and bikers are a nuisance that should basically be off the roads altogether.

    I've cycled in both Edinburgh and NYC, and I'll take Auld Reekie any day of the week. In Edinburgh, I found courteous motorists and general civility on the road.

    NYC roads are War, with a level of nastiness I never came close to encountering in Edinburgh. I kid you not -- you think a 'merkin is obnoxious, you should see one in its native environment.

    FYI a merkin over here is a pubic wig. maybe 'merakin is better. :)
