    Cycle advocates in Hamilton, Ontario take the mayor out on a bike to show the dangers cyclists face.

    They are nearly hit by a car within 30 seconds.

    Has anyone seen Nick Cook on his new bike? Think we could get something similar with him? (Not getting hit by a car....)

    “Said he might.”

    If he did, Adam would have to be there too!

    "Might" is a pretty poor showing from a transport high-heid-yin.

    @Arellcat

    Oooh. I'd be scared to ride a tandem round town myself, and the optics for a politician being on the back of a bike wearing a plastic hat are not good.

    Mr Yousaf does own a bike of his own, probably best he rode that? Doing it on a summer Sunday morning probably the gentle way in.

    He'd never met me before. I just chanced my arm. Said he'd check his diary and see if he had a space.

    He didn't strike me as insincere, I just don't think he sees mass bicyclism as a serious option for urban Scotland.

    Reply from Adam to my tweet above

    "Agree. It’s very useful for members to cycle their local routes regularly, particularly at peak times, school drop off etc to get a full idea of issues & daily experiences."

    So, I've dropped him an email. We shall see...

    Would be good to know which councillors actually cycle, what kind of cycling and whether they support everyday cycling as a valid mode of urban transport.
    Claire Miller I think is an "everyday" cyclist and supports cycling.
    Separate thread?

    Mark Brown (Conservative, Drumbrae/Gyle) will shortly get his new bike from @harts. Nick Cook said he got a bike recently.
