I maybe mentioned this before, this venture is run on the Cockdurno farm. The grandchildren of Alick Buchanan Smith who was the Tory MP for Kincardine and second son of Baron Balerno and who died young many moons ago. Fair play to them, they are trying to rejuvenate the farm rather than sell it to Cala. You pay ten pounds. So the Free bit is a slight misnomer. There is a set meal. They did a good veggie option for me. (Though if you are strict vegan type veggie you might need to explain Parmesan is not vegetarian). You sit at two long trestle tables. Looked to be around fifty people there. Half I knew and half had come from town. When they are operating every night in August would be a good cycle out and back.

At the end of the night you put any further money you feel the food / venture deserved in a bag on way out the door.

There is a separate bar that takes cards.

    Road surface ropey.

Google them. They will also sell you a pig. The restaurant is in a converted piggery. Pork was what the carnivores were served.

For me with not just a chip but the full fish supper on my shoulder it is nice to watch posh boys and girls having to work like the rest of us. Also good just to watch them from an anthropological perspective.

Was thinking about giving them a try some time. Perhaps we can compare anthropological notes?

@unhurt, not too bad for a tenner, plus any further you wish to freely donate.

Red wine was better than white. Lot of cocktails being necked.

Nice big fire in the courtyard. Good bit of joinery making the loos. Helped it was a balmy evening. We walked back a bit and was still quite light late on.

@gembo thanks for the info -- it's interesting and good to know. I have been at the farm turnoff quite a few times as the farm sign used to be an Ingress portal with patchy reception.

@unhurt we would be up for trying it some time. Maybe @sheeptoucher as well?
