Participants also recognised Edinburgh as an inclusive and diverse city, with 85 per cent perceiving neighbourhoods as a place where people from different backgrounds can get on well together and the vast majority, 94 per cent, agreeing that the Capital is welcoming and accessible to people of all ages.

But satisfaction among residents over the handling of crimes including antisocial behaviour and vandalism in local areas saw slight falls, while others reported being unhappy about the amount of dog fouling

I meant to say at the time, but my wife was surveyed for this. They were stopping people outside the Corstorphine Tesco.

"However public confidence in the council’s road management services took a knock as less than half of cyclists surveyed – 47 per cent – reported feeling safe on city roads, a six per cent decline on the 2016 figures."

Who are these 47% of cyclists who feel safe on the roads?!

The ones who say, "I'm a cyclist mysel, but..."

The ones who last cycled round Centerparcs.

The ones who have a decrepit BSO in the garage but actually just drive everywhere.

    Love it when stories collide.

Shouldn't that headline be "Damning indiction of pizza delivery times in Glasgow"?

Unless there's a whole market of artisan freshly-cut custom-bagged cocaine out there that I wasn't aware of, it seems unfair to blame pizza delivery people for what will be the queues in the kitchen.

    "accidental collisions"

    "road traffic accident"

    "tragic accident"

and describing a fatal dooring as "colliding with a parked car in a tragic accident"

    Despicable newspaper

Cllr Macinnes said: “Each year we invest ten per cent of our transport budget into improving cycling infrastructure to make travelling by bike a safer and easier option. “We currently have a number of new projects under way, including the city centre West to East cycle link, providing a mainly segregated route from Leith Walk to Roseburn, a direct cycle link between the Meadows and George Street, and central Edinburgh transformation, which aims to make Edinburgh’s city centre more welcoming for cyclists and pedestrians.”

That at least is public support for the CCWEL, so never mind the squeals at losing parking places in the TRO/RSO.

You could spend a long time in Edinburgh without noticing any cycling infrastructure to improve.

Interesting. When did they start, and how many metres of infrastructure have been built?

The council should take the blame for -
The state of the roads, including painting
    Cycling infrastructure
Wasting so much of the cycle budget (e.g. armadillos, chicanes)

The police should take the blame for practically a total lack of enforcement of bad/aggressive driving, dangerous parking.

My message is therefore to the council - spend wisely and maintain cycling infrastructure timely and properly. Also maintain road surfaces - just because it's safe for a car doesn't mean it's safe for a bike.

And for the police - enforce the blasted law you have ignored law-breaking for too long.
