    From the council (I've paraphrased):

Due to the Clerk Street resurfacing work, the Rankeillor St / Gifford Park toucan crossing will be closed for roughly a week, starting some time next week.

A temporary pedestrian crossing will be placed at either Bernard Terrace or St Patrick Square and there will be pedestrian barriers along the edge of the carriageway. Cyclists will need to dismount and use the footway. Appropriate signage will be in place.

East Preston Street will reopen on Friday and then Hope Park Terrace / Bernard Terrace will be closed at South Clerk Street on Monday in a mirror image to the closure/diversion which has been in place at East Preston Street.

At the junction with East and West Preston Streets we seem to have sprouted a left turn only lane heading south on Clerk Street.

Inevitable conflict built in for cyclists heading to Minto Street. Take lane two and get hooted at or rear-ended or go straight ahead in lane one and get shouted at or hit by traffic turning right. Thanks a million.

I suspect they're going to need some sort of warden to prevent pavement cycling. That's quite a distance of 'dismount' for folks like me who don't like to mix it up with city traffic on alternative routes which will be busier than usual.

@I were right about that slipknot - you mean here?

It's now "Left turn and buses".
