Saw him last August with a mate - who is a very big fan of ned.

It wasn't brilliant to be honest, we left a bit underwhelmed.

@Iain McR - Partly my fault I guess, I wasnt sure what to expect and fell into the trap that every show in Edinburgh in August is comedy, and it wasnt.............however, Ned did advertise as part of the comedy fest.

He tried a few funnies, but I wish he had just done it as a Q&A - a bit like Richard Moore does with people at the book fest?

Mike and I thought was "this is neither fish nor fowl"n and ended up feeling a wee bit let down. Shame really.

    Ned or Norris Edward Boulting.

Norris C Boulting lives in West Calder. I say west Calder but is in fact Harwood House out by the dog trust on route to West a alder Model Aeroplane Club and the best the speed sign at Woolfords.

    Stalking?

Not really, my pal's sister was pals with his sister. Think they were blacksmiths together.

Norris senior has put new pond in and wagon wheels. He has gone native given the Andover and Bedford previous addresses.

I've got a ticket for the show tomorrow evening. Looking forward to it. I've seen him a couple of times before. He's a bit self-effacing but brought a healthy outsider perspective to cycling commentary. I think he gets the enthusiasm/scepticism balance about right. His descriptions of his favourite and not so favourite cyclists is entertaining.

The Boulting Brothers who made the movies were identical twins and both married five times

Ned Boulting was entertaining. He told the story of the 2018 Tour de France and his experience of it using video and props.

He'd not been quite as animated when I'd seen him at book events and he seemed a bit phased at first by the number of empty seats and the reluctance of the audience to participate, as was I by his bouncy, high energy style but he, and I, settled in after a bit.

He used a video backdrop to show clips from the stages and footage that he must have taken with a view to doing a show like this. His fellow commentator David Millar came in for some ribbing, especially in the footage of their daily attempts to keep fit by running or cycling parts of that day's stage. Sagan also featured heavily though Ned couldn't do the Sagan voice for laughing.

He referenced French sci-fi, the ghost of Henri Degrange, the gendarmerie and existentialism. I thought it was a really impressive performance.

Hope everyone who was at the most recent Ned Boulting at the Queen's Hall* also caught yesterday's stage of the Tour Down Under which saw Oscar Onley win the Willunga Hill finish stage.

Nice to see a Scottish cyclist winning things!

*Onley was at the event and got a shout out from Ned because his Mum had written in.

And Ned is at West Calder in the Pedal Power Shoppe with Cameron Mason maybe 23rd Feb.

Wonder if his dad Norris C Boulting still lives in small mansion off Dogs Trust Road? (Runs from West Calder towards Woolfords) trail goes cold in 2020. He would be 82-83 now. Boulting Brothers filmmakers of Ealing are related too. John Boulting being Norris, senior’s dad. And in the way film directors do, Crispian Mills dad 32 years later.
So Crispian Mills despite being same age as Ned is his half uncle.
Posh and scruff can do this type of thing.

to Crispian Mills from Kula Shaker. Who remembers them? I saw them supporting Neil Young. I can rember zero. Indeed I can’t remember Neil either. Lot of guitar. I do remember the guitar technician came on in a white lab coat and clipboard. And being saved by the blessed Andrew Tully of Jesse Garon and the desperadoes or maybe the Dog Faced Herman’s. At the end when all the weegies started Jim
Ing the taxi queues as we need to catch last train as had been hours between Kula shaker and Neil so late and indeed boring.
