This year's Edinburgh Festival of Cycling is less than two weeks away, so which events are you going to?
There's loads of stuff on, including that Bike Jumble people have been asking for...
CityCyclingEdinburgh was launched on the 27th of October 2009 as "an experiment".
IT’S TRUE!
CCE is 14years old!
Well done to ALL posters
It soon became useful and entertaining. There are regular posters, people who add useful info occasionally and plenty more who drop by to watch. That's fine. If you want to add news/comments it's easy to register and become a member.
RULES No personal insults. No swearing.

Copenhagenize Scotland should resonate with forumites. On 21st June.
Spokes have 'Transforming our City Centres' on 13th June.
18 days of events so must be something for everyone surely?
So who's going to Copenhagenize Scotland and Transforming our City Centres?
Any takers for Why We Cycle? Would have thought that would resonate with at least some on here...
Kaimes hill challenge for me. I’ll try and improve on my time of 4 mins 30 from last year. Some of the speeds some of the guys did it last year were absolutely fantastic.
Edinburgh Night Ride for me, as I'm one of the ride leaders ;-)
This year's Mystery Route is another cracker, and suitable for all abilities.
I can't view any of the event pages in either Chrome or IE - hanging due to a script, I think. Just mentioning it in case it's a widespread problem.
@Murun Buchstansang there was a problem earlier today but is fixed now.
my kids in training for Kaimes too. was a blast last year.
I'm going to Peter Walker on the 7th. Would have gone to Copenhagenize but it clashes with Idlewild at Summerhall.
Will also probably go along to watch the Kaimes event as it's on my doorstep.
@ Stickman you can always catch Morton in Dundee the following day... ;-)
I'll be getting lost in the incredible world of dérailleur history, and of course I'll be at Pecha Caka (furiously trying to think of a presentation subject). Hoping to do the 20th century architecture ride too.
Had thought about going to Copenhagenize, but I need to pack for the York Rally. And alas I have an appointment that clashes with Laid Back's ride.
Oh! Yes!! I've signed up for the Pecha Caka too!!! That means I need to do something about it!!!!
There's several things I hope to go to - the cycle jumble, Andrew Sykes, a couple of others and I may try submitting something for the writing comp.
Really looking forward to this edfoc. Lots of interesting talks! And a cool hill climb and barbecue as well, I hear...
Make sure you have some oxygen for me at the top of Kaimes. I'll be on my boardman again but I might nip in and get a motor fitted :)
I plan to be at the Bike Curious Family Workshop.
I'm also considering The RTTS and possibly an attempt at Kaimes on a Helios, although it depends on the Stoker not being too tired to stay up past bedtime.
What's this thread doing in "Debate"? No wonder I couldn't find it.
I think only chdot has the wherewithal to move threads to another section of CCE.
I'm going to Peter Walker tonight: what's bike parking at the Pleasance like?
@Stickman - I'm not sure there's any at the theatre itself, but the gym has hunners of racks.
I was tempted by the night ride, but I'm doing 50-60 hour weeks at the moment, and will be dead come Friday night :(. Next year!
There is some cycle parking in the courtyard at the Pleasance, but there are more Sheffield stands next door at the sports centre.
Is any of the cycle parking at t'Pleasance secure enough or accessible enough to park the red torpedo? Wondering whether it'll be OK for an hour, or if I should bring a more townworthy bike.
I kind of want to head to Dobbies afterwards, without having to massively doubleback on myself along Gilmerton Station Road, but don't fancy the Sherrifhall roundabout on the Elephant Bike.
The racks at Pleasance are very tightly packed together - I wouldn't fancy your chances of fitting the torpedo in, but I'm certainly not an expert in parking velomobiles.
Would Gilmerton Road be a better option for heading to Dobbie's?
The velomobile doesn't do tightly spaced cycle stands. It doesn't really do cycle stands at all, to be honest.
I'd thought for fun I could take the train to Shawfair, whence I could follow the railway path most of the way home. It's a pain not having the access from the path at Gilmerton Road yet.
Hoping to see all the family cyclists at the Bike Curious Family workshop on Saturday at the Pleasance! We'll be launching our 'Play Together on Pedals' project too : )
