Cycling UK, Cycling Scotland and Play Scotland have just launched 'Play Together on Pedals' in Edinburgh - some members of the Forum kindly came along to show off their kit and chat to people at the very damp launch during EdFoC

We would to run more Bike Curious Family events, support new family cycling groups, train parents and other volunteers to help children move from balance bikes to pedal bike. We have some small grants for community organisations to get involved and other grants so early years organisations can buy small numbers of bikes. We'll be giving nursery staff Play on Pedals training so they can work with children in their nurseries too.

If you would like to get involved in anyway, know a pre-school that would want to have staff Play on Pedals trained or would like to become a PTOP trainer and help us at drop in events please get in touch with Angie Kinghorn, our Development Officer on angie.kinghorn@cyclinguk.org

We've been up and running for a couple of months in Edinburgh now and have taken our wee bikes to drop-in sessions and play-days around the city, as well as getting our first group of instructors through a training course last week.

I'm now looking for some folks to bring their varied types of family bikes along to some Bike Curious workshops with the first one at Whale Arts Centre on Saturday 1st September, 12:30 - 2:30pm.

If you can make it and can bring a bike with a baby seat, trailer, tag-along or cargo bike to let others see and share your experiences, please get in touch.

Unfortunately, I've had to cancel the above event.
We'll get some more organised soon, closer to the city centre.

In the mean-time, we'll be attending the On Foot, By Bike Active Travel Festival at Inverleith on Sunday with our fleet of balance bikes and wee pedal bikes.

If you've got little ones who aren't pedalling yet, bring them along!

Thanks for letting us know. I was maybe going to turn up but wouldn't have been able to commit until the day. So it wont be time wasted now.

We have a free preschooler's drop-in session at The Crags Sports Centre, 15:30 - 17:30 this afternoon.
Balance bikes, wee pedal bikes and helmets are provided.
A great way for wee ones to use up some energy on a dreich day like this!

We're going to the PTOP session at Pilton Youth Centre this morning (10am). Had fun last week at WHEC although the young man didn't fancy the pedals but maybe this week he'll feel like a go :-)
