Hi,
A lovely lovely friend recently contacted me to offer me a free bike.
Originally we had gone for a 'Royal Wedding Avoidance Cycle Ride', when Kate Middleton married the elder son of Princess Diana. He had a Dawes Audax which I had a go on and although being 2cm larger than my Dawes Galaxy, is was comfortable and swish to ride. I said at the time if he ever was to sell it I'd love first dibs.
Well he has to make room in his garage for his wife's new bike, and I decided to offer me the Dawes Audax, free gratis! How could I refuse!
It is in very good condition, with original Shimano 105 leavers and front mech. Rear is a Tiagra. The paintwork is in good condition with near zero blemishes. So after a good cleaning last night I took it out for a test ride. It is light, responsive and a joy to ride. The gears work superbly and it has a triple! Paintwork is typical of the period, black yellow with white reflective strips attached.
The only negative is it is a 60cm not a 57/8 which my current road fleet are. Thinking of getting a shorter stem. Need to measure my other bikes seat post to handlebars, to see wat I can do about a shorter stem.
I'll see if I can host a picture somewhere.
