A well-trodden pedestrian subway linking Fountainbridge and Dalry has been closed for urgent wall repairs.

A Council spokesperson said: “The Telfer Subway has been partially closed to allow for urgent structural investigations into a damaged boundary wall overhanging the subway. We apologise for any inconvenience caused, however public safety is absolutely paramount.”

From this tweet, it sounds like it is just the direct approach from Dundee St rather than the subway itself.

"Telfer Subway - footpath *CLOSED* from Caledonia Crescent towards Dundee Street for urgent wall repairs. Access still maintained via Fountain Park entrance.

Pedestrian diversion via pathway at the back of Lidl Shopping Centre on Dalry Road. #edintravel"

Actually, it sounds like it's the other side that;s closed - from Caledonia crescent?

So, you can enter from the lidl side, and go through to Dundee street, but the section between the lidl path and caledonia Crescent is closed.

Ah yes, I meant the direct bit to Dalry Road (not Dundee St). Too many Ds

Is the Telfer subway back open yet? Just wondering whether to adjust my route into town this evening.

  5. I believe it is now fully open. a few days ago it was open if you entered it via the path behind Lidl, as it was only the open air bit of that route (ie not the actual tunnel) that was closed

It was open, or at least half open when I went there yesterday.

It was entirely open yesterday as I used it to cycle to my dentist.
