People’s, I am still biking all over, getting bigger overnights under the belt now. Love it, just me bike a tent and no plans !! Thing is food, my son while playing at being the special air services was fed at the tax payers expense , I have just cleaned out a box in the garage , all sealed and clean , it contains lots of old ration packs, from apple and cinnamon muesli, to lamb casserole, lots of main meal stuff inbeteeen . All packs come with a BBF date, admittedly some go as far back as 2013! Do we reckon they are safe to eat? Lots of electrolyte drinks , ill just use rhem, but the sticky Roddy pudding looks like it’s a yes , but bbe sep 2016! Most manufactured by a company called vesty foods , all very well sealed in heavy foil packs, no leakage and prob cost a fortune when made. Any ex sodiers on here would take a risk? Scott

That stuff will probably be safe to eat, but possibly not very tasty. What's sterile remains sterile in undamaged packaging.

If you have the NATO omelette put it in the bin now. It was grim to begin with.

Might not taste amazing if it was best before 2013, but it shouldn't poison you - see https://www.food.gov.uk/safety-hygiene/best-before-and-use-by-dates

"The best before date, sometimes shown as BBE, is about quality and not safety. The food will be safe to eat after this date but may not be at its best. Its flavour and texture might not be as good."

That’s exactly what I thought, the very cute mini bottles of Tabasco and very hot pepper sauce might go a way to liven up wat is prob now very bland !! Still I can use them as part of a calorie controlled diet !! They are free and lightweight!! All day breakfast, prob about a million calories, it’s prob going to be the first try out .the electrolyte drinks certainly draw yer checks in ! Exotic flavour, indiscriminate, cherry , very, cola, not like cola I’ve ever drunk ! Again very lightweight, remind me of taking and drinking Cremona foam on my very first v diff
Rock climb in glencoe! Absolutely hundreds of waterproofed matches and strikers in the box too. 7 hexi cookers and full unopened fuel packs. We used to call them tommy coolers and they were , well let’s say that the fact they are unopened prob means they are still pretty poor !

If it's not dented and hasn't exploded it should be survivable. My dad acquired some MOD rations when UKWMO was wound down and tried a few of them over the following few years, but he eats most things irrespective of their use-by dates.

There is an entire youtube channel where a guy buys or sources super old MRE rations from various countries and eats them. Strangely interesting.

@instography late of this parish had a series of posts on face book where he ate the contents of his freezer (no n meat) going back four or five years. Then reviewed the taste. His beer also good
