Watch out for this, as there's no cones, just a white arrow painted on the ground

what you cant see from this picture is there's a six foot drop down that hole, into black water, no idea how deep

a dog or a child on a bike could easily go down it

its just at the foot of the Dalmeny Estate hill

absolutely crazy that this has been left unattended

the pic doesn't quite show the full scale of it

your bike would be totally ruined if you went over that, and at best you'd be face first on the pavement

i had to stop a wee kid on a bike who has tearing down the hill, he could easily have gone down that hole

his mother was behind, but they'd have had no way of knowing what was coming up

I saw the photo on twitter but you're right, without the bike wheel in the background you really don't get a sense of how easy it would be to disappear.

so going by reggie's twitter photo, they hadn't been along to spray on the white arrows yet

my photo was taken at 15:00

five hours gap, still no cones, just spray a couple of white arrows then leave again ?

    dysfunctional, negligent, culpable

Yes, that is an accident waiting to happen. Not sure posting on Twitter or here will get it fixed though. Call Clarence? E-mail Roads Dept? Contact a local Councillor?

Just gone past the offending hole. Having Planned to drop of a cone. BT openreach van in attendance. Hole now has barriers around it. Looking for a new home for the cone.

    thanks for the update

you know, i think its been like this for ages

i seem to recall a large yellow plastic cover used to be there, and it ended up covered in leaf mulch debris

maybe this morning's street sweeper just exposed it all once more

@stiltskin. Good idea but alas someone has beaten me to it. Looks like I will have to Un borrow it tomorrow.

    Ouch :(
I noticed they swept the path -of course before they're cutting the hawthorn hedge and not after- and that all the growth is still there at the bottom where the road joins the A90 where it narrows the path to about half it's width and covers the view ahead completely. I don't mind brambles and nettles, but not if they are growing into the cyclepath. Thanks Council.
