Any parents on here who can offer any history / help on the lack of covered bike parking at the ESMS junior school (New Ravelston) entrance?

They've just put a lot of money into extending the car park to ease drop off problems, but the entirety of support for active travel seems to be a couple of bike racks in the open air, adult sized (so kids' bikes/scooters etc. aren't well supported and there's no custom scooter rail with places to lock them and it looks as though most parents take the scooter home with them). Am I missing the "proper" bike shed?

It would also have been lovely to have a segregated bike path as part of the new development but I guess that ship has sailed.

We have to leave my son's bike there during the day but I am not looking forward to soggy bottoms after a rainy day.

Update: I have been variously pestering senior people either by email or face to face or requests to nursery teacher to please pass on a grumble... (e.g. about the expensive wooden bus shelter they've installed over the footpath from the car park). Anyway, deputy head of junior school whispered to me the other day that she has put in a request for funding for a bike shelter (I think it might even have been approved, I was a bit befuddled) - so maybe by the time the young man leaves P1 next summer it might be done. :)
