It wasn't meant to be a cycling holiday, but we did take the tandem with us as public transport only goes so far!
Soaking up the mood on a trip that started in Copenhagen two weeks ago and due to finish next Tuesday. Think that's a long holiday but allowed Mrs LB and me to return to Sweden - last time was over 15 years ago with daughter on tandem. (She's 23 now).
Cycled part of the new Kattegattleden from Helsingborg to Varberg - 170 miles over four days. Southern Sweden (Sköne & Halland) are not flat and 'leisure' paths always go up and down.
Had a few days off bike with trip by ferry and train to Oslo to have a day there (took planning and we only just got out of Göteborg on the last train as Swedish Rail cancelled - no staff 'on the ground' after 11pm - but train crew were very helpful).
Return trip is via Denmark. Ferry from Varberg to Grenå and stays at Kro in Mols Bjerge National Park. This is all glacial deposits and we climbed by foot to hill forts with views over Ebeltoft Vig to east and Aarhus to west.
Last Thursday we ended up cycling in heaviest rain ever. We also had puncture on rear of recliner. Fixed though in lesser rain before monsoon lashed in.
Currently on tranquil island of Samsø listening to birds. (Denmark in minature they say). More musings to follow on roads, paths and cycling on these bits we've seen.
Sure a few others on forum have cycled here and have views too.
Obviously the fact that cars give way to bikes at all junctions makes cycling easy. Some bike paths are not that good though. Even the European Bike Path of the year 'Kattegattleden' is work in progress.
Was using OSMand+ for offline navigation on phone. That phone screen got wiped out though -even though we kept under cover on the wettest day. Borrowed Mrs LBs phone to post.
