Any of Embra’s bike shops likely to be willing and able to bush a stripped crank for me?

@iwrats yes

Not aware of anyone does it. Easy to do yourself, but the 9/16 helicoils seem to be ruinously expensive. Bound to be a send-off service somewhere?

This one came up by Googling but there must be a bike shop in Edinburgh that can do it.Tarty Bikes

Eastsidebikes does it (no postage!).

Thanks Blueth and chdot. Overnight I have been considering my options; so currently my front drivetrain needs:
- crank thread repair (probably >=£20)
- new chainrings (c.£30 min)
- I have a creaky bottom bracket, BB has been replaced before, looking online, BB life seem to be a persistent problem for my current crank (FSA Gossamer 10sp)Might be as cost/hassle effective in the long run to replace both crank & BB? If so, can anyone recommend a 10sp compact crank & BB combo?

I had this problem last year and after phoning around various Edinburgh bike shops (cue checking of stock and sucking of teeth) found it was £40 to have a bush inserted therefore decided to just buy a new crank..

Double, compact or triple? If not a weight weanie, I'd go for a Stronglite Impact from Spar Cycles. They go on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, ...
OK?

Think Eastside will be cheaper than that.

£75 for both the double and triple. A BB (square taper will be around a tenner).

Friend stripped his, got a very serviceable replacement chainset from Bike Station for a tenner. The old set was some odd FSA splined thing, so he had to spring for a new bottom bracket as well, but even with that it worked out way cheaper than fixing the crank.
