    The title says it; I want to post a picture held as a .docx file. Is there a simple direct way of doing it please?

    Can you save the document as a web page? If so, the image will end up somewhere in the output as a separate image file.

    Or there's also the nasty option of opening it and doing a screen capture.

    Copy the file and change the extension of the copy to .zip

    FileCopy.docx => FileCopy.zip

    Open the FileCopy.zip as if it is a Zip Archive. Have a look in the "word/media" subdirectory. Your images should be there and can be copied out as a normal file.

    Thanks both. I'll have a go but I'm really rubbish at this sort of thing!

    I'd be inclined just to do a screen capture. If on Windows then easiest way is probably the Snipping Tool (just search for it in the Start Menu). Then save the output as a jpg.

    I'm mainly on an Android tablet, and occasionally an iMac. It's a struggle following suggestions so far!

    Screen clipping on an iMac is CMD + SHIFT + 4

    Then select what you want with the cursor. It saves the image as a png to the Desktop, usually called "Screen Shot 2018 10 ... "

    Simples

    On the tablet, press and hold the power and volume down buttons together.

    That should take a screenshot.

    @neddie Thanks. Took screen shot ok and CMD+c to copy but no conventional paste option seemed to work either into CCE, email or anything. I'll mark thread resolved. Thanks all.

    ih you cannot paste directly into CCE. You have to host your picture somwhere else (eg Flickr) and then link to it.

    I feared this might raise expectations! It was no more than a standard bike photo of a type my neighbour recently had stolen from our stair. I will post shortly a description of the bike on the off chance somebody sees it. I see from the NEPN thread though that theft is something of an epidemic at the moment.
