Hi all anyone know where I can get reasonably local sweet chesnuts for roasting on an open cooker ? Dont need loads as kids will prob go...whats that dont like !Just enough to lighten up the usual festive stoge ! I suppose supermarkets might have em but prob from vietnam or somewhere equally close !

There are usually some in the East Coast organic veg boxes that are delivered this week - don't know where they get them, but most of their stuff is local.

I'm just back from Waitrose, but I couldn't see any fresh chestnuts so sorry can't help here.
Oddly they seem to be suffering from "panic avoidance" of bread and have lots of full shelves of it reduced to clear. Or perhaps by the time their delivery of CBP bread arrived it was almost ready for sell-by

Sure I saw some in Tesco (Firhill) last week.
I also bought some last year from one of those "hot chestnuts" braziers stands on Princes St - (They were burnt! YUK! Never again!)
