Now if they had the disc-braked Revolution Country Explorer in the sale, I would be slightly tempted. I could do with another backup front light, though.

Prior to losing two of them during Snow Week #1, most of my lights came from EBC sales. Might try for another rear flasher if there are any left by the time I get back up here. A workstand might be handy, either for reconstruction work on my old frame or for the daily de-glagging/re-lubing amidst the winter slush.

I worked out that the cost of a new chain for the MTB was less than the cost of a week on the bus - and so the past four weeks on the MTB will have paid for a new chain and new cassette.

That's not a reason to avoid cleaning the bike in the dark at -6C but sadly, I have chosen to go with the "rust it and chuck it" posse this time around.

Also don't forget that there's always a big queue and a packed shop on the first day of the EBC sale. It can often be better to go on the second day, as it's quieter and there is often some stock on display that wasn't there on the first day.

    ...or a frontup back light?

Actually, I could use a new frontup front light too. My halogen Vistalites are beginning to show their age.

You mean they are no longer among the brightest lights available, or 'getting a bit tired'?

I still like the way they light up distant reflective road signs and the effective wide to barrie focussing.

Obviously not being LEDs, batteries (anywhere cheaper than Maplin for NiNH?) don't last as long before recharging.

7Dayshop eneloop clones or their normal high capacity ones are pretty good value

They're getting a bit tired, electrically. I bought lots of spare parts when CRC had them in stock (and all the bits EBC had at the time, too), as the plugs are fractionally different in size from the equivalent in Maplin; different enough to be a slightly loose fit. I constructed a second battery using 4.4Ah NiMH sub-C cells and an eBayed dead battery, which is all great for running the full 15W setup, but it needs a new socket soldered in and the cells balanced to discourage reversal and false peaks when charging. But I've not seen a LED system that covers all my needs, like remote switching, independent light pods for fork mounting, extension cables, etc.

However, my chain cleaner is a bit broken, and my bike needs a new chain, and, erm, that's about all I can think of.

Do EBC sell Arellcat's high powered air compressor gadget for removing frozen brown sludge from your bottom bracket? Or bike hair dryers?

"(anywhere cheaper than Maplin for NiNH?)"

Asda were doing some own-branded alleged 2500mAh AAs for slightly cheaper than Maplin's 2650mAh Energisers, though I'm not entirely convinced they're anything like 2500mAh unless they need a few cycles to reach their optimum.

Next time I have need of it I'll try my camera-sensor-dust-displacing-blower-bulb thing on the hard-to-brush bits to see if it does any better.
