"Bike cemetery?"
At current rates IWRATS will have completed his graveyard by about the time our sun implodes.
@Iwrats, I'm sure the Paolozzi is nice if you like that style of beer. I prefer their smoky wheat myself while MrsMe prefers the cherry Saison. We both agree that the Brown is not to our liking.
If anyone is passing EBF they are currently selling the latter 3 of those for about £1 a bottle as they have changed the branding.

I've just remembered I've got a couple of 1l bottles to get refilled before christmas. I do like the EBF for minimal "beer" miles.

Dear EBC,
Thanks for your time just now. Pictures attached as requested - whole bike, crack in the down tube and serial number F540FSD406.
You will have questions:
Are those Jones H-Loop bars? Yes they are.
Is that an FSA Orbit XLII headset? Yes it is.
Are those RockShox Paragon forks? Yes they are.
Are those Shimano SLX disc brakes? Yes they are.
Are those....Magura HS13 rim brakes? I'm afraid so, yes.The bike has not been abused, involved in any collisions or neglected though I have fallen off it a few times. It has been maintained throughout its life by me and I'm a Cytech qualifed mechanic. There isn't an original part left on it bar the frame and the Shimano Nexave shifters which haven't missed a beat in at least half a million gear changes.
One other thing: Marin already know about the bike as it's about to appear on the cover of this book;
https://saraband.net/sb-title/overlander/
and I was talking to john.xxxxx@marinbikes.com a couple of weeks back about them supporting the book launch with a bit of publicity.
Clearly the frame has had a long and fulfilling life - I suspect it's the hardest-ridden hybrid in Scotland - but I'm still curious to learn what a lifetime warranty means to Marin. As you might suspect I am absurdly fond of that frame.
Cheers,
IWRATS

Incredibly Marin have declined a warranty claim on an eighteen year old city bike that has been tortured across several mountain ranges.
They have hinted at a gesture of acknowledgement for my loss. That would be beautiful and fitting.
I have decided what to do with the frame - it will become a wilderness bookshelf. Let the stripping of components commence. I may hold a wake.

Bah, customer service has really gone to the dogs these days.
Back when I were a lad....
Is this a bookshelf to be installed in an unexpected location or a shelf for books on wilderness?

Both would be nice?

Do you need books on the wilderness in the wilderness?

Are you suggesting banning books on librarianship from libraries? I shall flounce.
Posted 5 years ago # -
As a fully paid up (ex) chartered librarian. Yeah. It's a natural talent, you've either got it or not.

I've come over all Dewey eyed. Who knew? ISBN a librarian something you miss?

My 1994 Specialized Rockhopper died in 2004 and I was sad, for an excess of weather enabled the tinworm to eat away the right-hand chainstay.
I chopped it up with the intention of using most of the tubes to build a wind chime. I did all the calculations and everything to tune it to consecutive minor thirds. The down tube actually became the tool to exert greater leverage on a vice handle, and the top tube was used to practice my bike security marking skills.

Easy mate, don't want people feeling LEFT OUTER this conversation.

You win CCE today, @Arellcat. Outstanding.

I think it must be something to do with products from the turn of the millennium. I took my Christmas lights out of storage this year and they wouldn't turn on.
Having got the multi metre out it appears that 8 of the bulbs are faulty. Fortunately they were from a major high street retailer, but unfortunately Woolworths only guaranteed to supply spare bulbs until 2003.

I may have found a new host frame for the Scaffolding Components. Cube CMPT 29er MTB missing the front wheel and fork.
Need to check the head bearings - not quite sure if they're tapered or normal.
Geometry's nice and relaxed - would make a nice off-road tourer.

The Scaffolding Bike is dead. Long live the Scaffolding Bike?

Unicycling! What next..juggling, tightrope walking in the Meadows, loon pants. It's a slippery slope I tell you.
Posted 5 years ago # -
Tie-dye.
Posted 5 years ago # -
What next..juggling
I went through a juggling phase - burning torches the lot. 501s, Docs, polo shirts. No loon pants.
Oddly, 'Gandalf'* was in the Bike Station shop as I raked the warehouse.
*Actually an oddball Canadian ligger and amateur circus skills coach** in loon pants and felt hat. Not a wizard.
**Especially to young ladies.

polo shirts
colour? Building a mental picture here. I'm going to make a wild assumption that there was a pony tail going on.

Good Lord no.

I think Rugg Tomcat has that market sewn up pretty well.
I still have my diabolo somewhere. I was never very good at whipping but did master a few tricks. Decided I was better at riding laid back.

I couldn't walk straight in front of a High Street crowd. That dude has talent.

Perm?
Good Lord no.
Ex girlfriend of mine once appeared with an unexpected but very fetching head of curls. Always thought that must be quite a strange experience.

Well what good lord yes hairstyle was fashionable mid to late 80s Iwrats sporting?
