Good observations and agree on all points. Exhibition road is AWFUL and yet could be so good!
Agree on the fact that drivists tend to be fairly "used" to cyclists, but as you point out, the commuter drivists and pro-courier vans/deliver trucks are a different matter.

I think the lack of cycle commuters also helped give it a more relaxed vibe.
