Research (Google) reveals the 2500 mile tour of England, Scotland and Wales with 50 miles cycling in between for his 50th birthday in 2010 may have end up as a smaller 720 mile tour of England with 16 pubs source NME. Guardian interview at the time had him in Kings Head (not sure which kings head) in London and then a tour start in Porthmadog, Wales. So not clear.

Bob Mortimer picked one Beautiful South duet where they are both American country stars, for his Desert Island discs. Catch that show on the iplayer. Has many of his Would I Lie to you True Stories. And Joni of course.

Correction, looks like he did the 16 date pub tour by bicycle in 2010 then in 2012 a 40 night pub tour by bicycle, in covering 2500 miles, England, Wales, Scotland and Ireland

Also pub was Kings Arms in Salford which he owned.

The Beautiful Sputh split up citing musical similarities

Wolfgang Fluhr left Kraftwerk saying there was too much cycling inside Kraftwerk and not enough music.

David Byrne toured with folding bke and wrote Bicycle Diaries, when may I get a shot of that book?

Nice - he's picked some lovely stuff. Lots of music only made sense to me when I realised it was folk like Half Man Half Biscuit or country like the Proclaimers.

I went to this, on a tandem.

Three Horse shoes in Radnage. Got a shout out as we were the only people to arrive on bikes.

@iainmcr, nice one. The coverage in the Independent has Heaton and his roAdie taking the journalist down the hard shoulder of the dual carriage way on their bikes, towards the Isle of Sheppey. Journo not happy. Heaton saying, no problem as wind was behind.

just properly read that part - I know I had a copy, didn't I give it to you at PY ? pretty sure I gave it to someone, or it could be on a shelf and I imagined that I did. Will look.

Great quip from Heaton in the Indy article:

    ---

So committed is he to the cyclist's life that I have to ask him if he shaves his legs. (Apparently, it improves your aerodynamics.) "No," he replies. "I'm just remarkably hairless. I only went through puberty when I was 42."

@iainmcr, my memory is that you acquired the book at the big barge giveway by CHDot

@crowriver, yes I liked that quip also
