There is currently work happening under the pedestrian footbridge just west of Meggetland, which means that the towpath is shut with a diversion up and over the end of the bridge. This won't be a problem for most, but the steps will prevent access to some. There's no indication how long this will be going on for. The signs were there, but no work was happening yesterday morning, whereas work had clearly happened during the day, but the towpath had been opened again by the time I was heading home at 6 pm.
