    @bill - I'm looking forward to learning where a "platinum-level CCE content creator" decides is 'convenient' for getting a book signed...

    @Frenchy

    Started re-reading my very yellowed copy of Lanark last night. What a book. What an intellect. Thanks for the prompt.

    @IWRATS, yes it went very successfully. I carelessly lost the quick release to attach the rear bike to the trailgator. I was hoping to find something which would do the job and came away with a full second bike fitting kit which will be of use in the next few years.

    Alas, this clashes with the weezzettes' school 'Scots Night', so I cannot come. Can I register to attend and donate my ticket if anyone wants it on the door?

    Will Bike Station be stocking the book for sale after the event?

    @Weezee

    The book contains the words 'fankle', 'plowter', 'scunner' and 'scutter' if memory serves. (And I'm hoping @Frenchy will ask a question in Doric.) Bring the weezettes along?

    I can't mess with the Bike Station's stock ordering policies but you never know they might get a few copies in...

    @iwrats I wish I could, but it's a direct clash. Though I suspect I would be better enculturated in Scots by reading your book than by attending Scots night...

    I wondered if the book would be on sale in the bike station or Edinburgh bikes etc but then thought I guess it is an unknown quantity as not out, will the book be of merchandisable quality, its not inconceivable on the 28 march there will be a “todays rubbish book” thread. I have bought books before on the day they came out, before any amazon or guardian reviews and some were unsatisfactory. It may be the book is just a collection of iwrats posts and nothing new in it

    As long as there is mention of buckets of Quicksilver I would be happy with that. I'm not sure why that one sticks in my mind but I do like the image.

    I went with the option to buy the book on the night so that if I don't make it I'll be able to use an alternative sales channel.

    any book prominently containing the word 'fankle' must shurely be regarded as a priority purchase

    I'm liking the energy on this thread. There is an indomitable resonance.

    I have seen an actual book, it is lovely. Has words, pictures, separate pages and very positive reviews given without money exchanging hands.

    Amusing warm-up event on the 21st in the beautiful new French consulate on George IV Bridge if anyone on here has francophonic tendencies;

    I might be a bit late, I'm not getting back to Edinburgh until 1810. By the time I dump my gear and grab a cab/bike it'll be a bit after 7.

    I hope your publisher is providing sufficient training/advice to allow you (as a new author) to correctly judge the amount of alcoholic inebriant-fluids to imbibe to gain positive reviews, if this appears to be by what authorship's merit is assessed.

    I believe the book world runs on cocaine and sexual favours. Neither will be available on the night so failure is inevitable.
