If you get off at the East end of Princes Street most of the buses up the Bridges take you pretty close. Or the no. 42 up the Mound drops you pretty much outside.

I can't believe that thread drift took so long.

What about the outfit on the special collector's edition cover? Particularly the hat? Is that clean enough?

Got the MOAC (mother of all colds). So staying put. Had ticket so someone can drink my wine. Copy of book - assume that will stay at shop?
    Hope it's a great evening @iwrats

I thought it was all about drifting and crossing land masses. It doesn't look off topic to me.

Will the be a time of memorial for the scaffolding bike?

I was wrong Dublin Street can be on the way from Waverley to causewayside. Now I just have to hope my noodles are ready on time.

Is it not a security risk to have so many of CCE in the same place? About 90% of CCErs I know on sight are here.

Bravo to IWRATS for monetising his involvement with CCE? ;-)

My apologies for not being there.I am, however, reading a positive review of Overlander in the CTC's Cycle magazine as I type.

Well, not exactly as I type, but just before I typed.

Excellent evening - hat tip to ARobComp and IWRATS for excellent chat and Algo and friends for the music. Nice pub banter later - plus "unique" Gembo recital.

@wingpig that's genius and ought to be the cover of the next edition.

@everyone who was in the pub: I hope you all suffer as much as I expect to in the morning

Very enjoyable evening. Cycle home from pub was quite dark up the WoL path and I think if ended with a nightingale singing as I pushed up the ramp on to A70 near my house

My brain doesn't work fast enough to have processed all the thoughts and emotions from last night. Quite overwhelming.

My warmest and deepest thanks to all of CCE for being part of the mad journey from a speculative thread on here to an actual book now living on strangers' bookshelves.

@ARobComp really did me proud. The man is a natural. If I have one regret from the evening it's not having heard @algo and friends play because I was busy signing. Signing not singing.

Great event. Interesting talk on several levels, ably hosted by ARobComp. Good to meet you again IWRATS. Several familiar faces and introduced to a few new ones by Steveo who did indeed arrive by hire bike. Inspired to try one myself. Looking forward to reading Overlander.
Footnote: I read Lanark last month in case it came up in conversation. It didn't.

Indeed, I enjoyed the event. I think mr fimm would have enjoyed it too. He'd have got your change of language story.
Sorry I didn't hang around but I had another pub to go to.

Great event- well done IWRATS - the readings were well chosen and whet the appetite for getting stuck into the book. Great to meet so many of you face to face.

    @Cyclingmollie

I am reading my ancient yellowed copy at the moment and the pages are falling out as I read them. Had @bax made it along we would have delved into the great man's works.

Can't wait to hear what you think of my work.

I like that this could well be a quote from Lanark.

I was yet to decide between an electrical copy and a real one, but then checked the release date and shall pop to Blackwell's at lunchtime.
Hopefully the première of the film adaptation won't be on a school night.

I will query the electric release date. Seems odd.

In Lanark I am at the bit where Thaw is courting, hopelessly.

What a lovely pre- and post-events! Sorry I couldn't stay for the middle parts :(
But I am looking forward to reading the book now!

@gembo Mr Bill got very upset that I didn't get you to confess where you got 'wallabrawonga' from and why you would use it and lie to all of us on this forum (He also got rather upset that I didn't smash a glass bottle on you for that lie... so be careful there).

I think @bill bludgeoning @gembo over misuse of aboriginal language would be peak CCE.

    Lorraine Kelly or “Lorraine Kelly”?

For tax purposes "Lorraine Kelly" of course.

I think it should be a substitute nominated by "Lorraine Kelly" to demonstrate their tax status as a service provider.
