Not-PY PoP up protected bike lane Fri 26th April

(82 posts)

  1. Chapeau everyone who made a morning commute for many a little bit safer this morning - especially Roibeard for organising.

It was an impressive turnout and an effective protest

Maybe these could be monthly events at various hot spots?

Why not just monthly at this hotspot until SOMETHING GETS DONE ABOUT IT.

I was just a bit too late out of the house today, so sorry I missed (seeing*) this. I was spotted by a CCEer though, as I passed; it might've been IWRATS, if red headwear was a correct observation, but alas the individual was a rapidly receding image in an already quite small rear view mirror.

    * In fairness, I wasn't sure the torpedo would fit, were I early enough to avail myself of the PoPup infrastructure.

Nice change to deviate through the Meadows though, instead of hot-tyreing it along the A701.

Great photaes as ever from Andy. Quality stuff especially the Gembo High Five Event.

Also the guy with bright red solid tyres that I chatted to at Good's Corner.

@iwrats, remember we told one happy cyclist we would be there every Friday. Does add data to my experiment that proper segregation improves traffic flow

Excellent start to PoP - well done to @Roibeard and all the others demarking the often parked on bike lane. Great images.

I was in Forrest Road yesterday. 4 vehicles parked in that lane.

Like World War I trench warfare.. Gain a little ground at cost, lose it again.

Interesting sign in Forrest Rd associated with the current roadworks "No Overtaking Cyclists". No sign signalling the end of the roadworks so every overtaking vehicle on George IV Bridge is committing some sort of offence, ne sont-ils pas? Have some of that "Cyclists dismount" action, drivists.

Of course, coming from MMW with the Bristo Place lane blocked off, there were no vehicles to be overtaken by, so much nicer. Still had to do the bus slalom though...

I'm willing to bet most of the traffic that was coming along Teviot Pl and turning into Forrest Rd has evaporated.

George IV Br and the Mound much more pleasant too

What's happening in Forrest Road roadworks-wise?

I assume it's not (yet) related to the planned cycle route?
