I've had the following email in about replacing streetlights on cyclepaths:

Please can you help us by making the following information available to your members and cyclists in Edinburgh.

We started upgrading Edinburgh’s street lights to energy efficient LEDs last October. This includes lights on pavements, roads and cycle paths.

We know that cycle paths are busy, so we plan to replace lights when they are quieter - between 10am and 3pm or overnight if necessary. As we aren’t generally replacing the actual lighting columns, it will only take about 15 minutes to replace each light. The safety of people using the paths and our team replacing the lights is important to us, so we will cordon off areas around each column as we work and we may have to close some sections of paths for a short time.

When we do this, we will put up signs letting people know about the works and asking people on bikes to slow down. Any of our vehicles on the paths will not drive more than 5mph.

You can find more information about the project and when we are working in areas of the city at http://www.edinburgh.gov.uk/streetlighting or contact us at EESLP@edinburgh.gov.uk

I spotted that the lighting on MMW is now LED on Sunday night so assume that the work on MMW the other week must have been related to the upgrade.

    Aye right!

That reminds me, I reported the light being out on the Blackhall Path under Telford Road back in October or November. It has yet to be fixed and I have in my head that today makes it 100 working days since it was reported.
