A good number of swifts along with some martins, swallows, and other small birds (and a few seagulls) swooping over the trees to the north-east of Pollock Halls last night.

Spotted a solitary swift hawking for insects over Fairmilehead yesterday afternoon. First time this year I've seen one from the house.

Can hardly move for passing swifts in Stockbridge this year. Assume it's cliffy enough to the south to make them at home.

Yes, I think they use WhatsApp to decide on the colony placement and the towering heights of Randolph Crescent are it.

Walking along the Burdiehouse Burn this morning I heard out of the corner of my ear what I thought was a buzzard. Looked up to see a swift instead.

Have no idea what actually made the noise, but don't think it was the swift.

Could be a starling. They are as cheeky as they are talented.

Heard what I could have sworn were swifts screaming above the streets of Duns last weekend - but it was the local starlings which have learned to imitate them.

Dreamed I saw a swift last night. Was woken by the sound of a skein of geese. We are in the liminal times.

There is a new Swift Local Group if you want to meet like minded souls. They will train you in swift related tasks like counting, nest boxes murder

"An awareness of inclusivity and unconscious bias"

What if your biases are very, very conscious?

    A keenness for Swifts

    and

    a swiftness for Keens

Then at the end to demonstrate their inclusivity and awareness of unconscious bias they have added

    Inclusivity and unconscious bias

Or if you have conscious bias a willingness to go on the RSPB course

As you see it’s not all about Swifts is it

I am very much enjoying thinking about a young @urchaidh gagging on rotting horse at the same time as thinking about swifts in South Africa noting the nights drawing in and mulling over a trip to Marchmont.

No, I believe in capacity-building rather than service provision. I shall hold workshops at which swifts will be upskilled in masonry and carpentry.

one shouldn't forget the pivotal role that swifts played in the development of the darkside techno hardcore continuum circa 92-93

indeed some say they are waiting in the wings to usher in a fresh wave of original bad boy junglist rhythms this coming summer

Not gonna lie, I was hoping this was going to be a Taylor Swift thread.

I think we need one, @Stickman

@harts, good, but not as good as your poetry or your general excellence in the bike fettling and selling arena.
