Glass bottles thrown on towpath at Wester Hailes

    Watch out on the canal towpath around Wester Hailes where it runs parallel to the playing fields. As I cycled by on my way home just now I had a glass bottle thrown at me, which seemingly missed me but smashed on the towpath.

    As I realised what was going on, I noticed that there was some glass on the towpath already and heard voices coming from behind the hedge/fence so I assume that a bottle was lobbed over from the playing field. I decided not to stop to try to find out any more.

    I've reported this to 101 so hopefully it will get sorted out fairly swiftly.

    My confidence in this being sorted out swiftly has now diminished because the police are keen to come and talk to me in person but it doesn't seem entirely clear if anyone has actually attended the scene of the incident I reported.

    The police just popped by to speak to me at home and are now off to examine the scene for CCTV. I can't think that there is any, but will find out soon.

    Mercifully rare that kind of stuff, but horrible when it happens.

    Did the towpath yesterday for the first time in ages and it brought back many fond memories though I did see glass at the point you mention.
