@IWARTS sounds like you are getting plenty of practice today...

I'm an 85% yes. Depends how I get on with the final day of pond digging, I might be utterly dead tomorrow. I'll report back with a form yes/no on Friday evening.

I am researching! Would an old tricross with cx tyres do it? Mtb flat bars not so good for my wonky arm!

I'm planning on taking my cross bike, I believe this should be okay.

On my last tire change I ended up with some very smooth tires. Hoping that something more grippy arrives in the post.

I'm not using particularly knobbly tyres - one Armadillo Nimbus at the back (with which I managed to get round Arthur's Seat when the road was icy a few years ago) and a Marathon at the front. I am taking a couple of spare sets of brake blocks seeing as IWRATS has mentioned brakes so often. I'll also be taking a spare 9-speed chain and an extra spare set of powerlinks amongst my pannierful of crap. I can't do much about the still-slightly-lumpy rear tyre except hope that the terrain is uneven enough to mask it.

wingpig - I'll be running on Marathons as well, mainly due to being too lazy to change them for the tractor-like tyres in my shed. I reckon we should be okay, ground condition wise.

There was no mud on the way. Loose stones at worst, and an unmown field.

Somebody text me when you're approaching the pub?

possibly the tire change is excessive, but I guess some tread is preferable. The advantage of not having Marathons is the change only takes 5 minutes.

Assuming that someone has IWRATS phone number, we will try and provide an update.

I have IWRATS number, but confused as why we need to text him as surely he'll be in the peleton somewhere?

I will also have a tyre jack with me, in case anyone needs to re-fit a Marathon en route.

Pasty shop doesn't open until 06:30.
I'd always imagined these ran from platform 3, but it seems to be platform 1.

Only just spotted this thread and have stuff to do this weekend, but stranger things might happen than my appearing tomorrow morning, assuming I sleep ok. Don't be waiting for me though because I will most probably be fast asleep...

No-one else here yet. How far along the platform does the train stop?

Small chance I'll be nearby around that time - can someone post here too?

I'm at the Dalriada. Can't stay particularly long though.

MapMyRide reckons only 2,700 calories as far as Eskbank, where my phone died. I'd have thought a bit more, but then the app didn't know about my pannierful of crap.

Trying to get them up to Flcker just at the moment. Proper camera would have been better, especially for the steaming agricultural heaps beside the first hill.

Assuming we didn't, I take it the landowner now has the right to shoot us the next time any of us come within three furlongs if their boundary?

That baying you can hear is the landowner's hunting hounds on your trail. They can flush you to - at most - two eagles and a yeoman with a crossbow.

That was the best thing I’ve done in a long while. Completely epic. Great company & such a nice mix of riding. I think we covered everything from A roads to native woodland single track, with a few fields, Landrover track & river crossings in between.

Thanks to IainMcR & chrisfl for navigating

And maximum kudos goes to those who completed it on rigid bikes

Six on the outgoing 05:55. Three other people not including the train staff got on at Waverley - didn't notice any others joining our carriage during the journey.
