Anyone have experience with Dahon folder seat posts?

The inner 'cuff' on mine (between the seat post and the seat tube) keeps riding up/not reseating itself.

This makes it difficult (and greasy) to fold bike quickly/neatly and sometimes make it unrideable as seat post can't be clamped in place.

I had that problem too, SRD. I think I used to try to keep the shim as clean and grease-free as possible on the inside (for the seatpost) but to lightly grease it on the outside (for the frame) to stop it squeaking.

It might be worth trying an alternative approach à la Brompton, where the shim is loosely glued into the frame. You could perhaps degrease it and the frame thoroughly and then run some hot glue under the lip of the shim (avoiding the cutout) and squish it down. It might hold it enough.

    Thanks Arellcat.

odd that it's been fine for 5+ years?

maybe @smudge did something clever to it that has finally worn off?

(can anyone else claim to own a bike that's been owned by 3 CCE-ers!?)

I have sold a couple of Isla bikes to hankchief that were bought from CCE-ers. So I guess those bike are on at least their third forum owner.
