Wow we were on that road a couple of hours earlier en route to spot in Anster where the stout gaberlunzie woman carried James V over the Dreel Burn.
We went back via the right turn after the strawberry farm that makes a theological and geometric point about not opening on a Sunday.
I hope the cyclist is ok, we saw a number of cyclists on the narrow east Neuk roads in the sun earlier. Was gloomier later but still no way a driver would not know they had struck a cyclist

Significant that Police are asking about silver Vauxhall with damaged bodywork, presumably they have evidence to indicate such a vehicle suffered damage at/near this location & left paint at/near site of incident.

STV has the cyclist fighting for his life. Not good.

I hate riding on national speed limit roads. Haunted by visions of this kind of thing.

Yes @IWRATS, plus these roads are very narrow or national speed limits, they are more like country lanes

Sadly, the cyclist has died.

How terrible

Not cycled but driven that stretch of road many times as we have friends in Pittenweem. Tragedy strikes, again.

I think it depends on the road warriston farm road is national speed limit but feels safer than curriehill road which is a 50 MPH

Think Curriehill Road is mostly NSL is it not? A71 to the north is 50 and horrrrible.

"A 74-year-old man has been charged in connection with the death of a cyclist after an alleged hit and run incident in Fife."

"He was also charged with driving while disqualified, driving without insurance and attempting to pervert the course of justice"
Not your ordinary "otherwise law-abiding driver" this time.
BBC News - Man appears in court over cyclist 'hit-and-run' in Fife

If he's disqualified and has no insurance, surely that has to mean a reasonable prison sentence?
Posted 4 years ago # -
It should be no different to manslaughter using any other unlicensed equipment. However I have long since stopped expecting reasonably sentencing for motor vehicle crime.

'Culpable homicide' in Scotland (slightly different offence, but manslaughter is south of the border).
Can certainly be committed 'involuntarily'.
