  1. Building an extension to our chicken run, and fixing/improving the roof on the current run after it came down from the snow in December and has had a temporary fix since then.

    B&Q sell the stuff I need, but I've got no way to get it home (2.7m of plastic just 'aint gonna fit inside a Mini), and places I've found online either limit you to a minimum order of 10 of one length (I need 5-6 of one length, and 4 of another), or charge ridiculous amounts to deliver (one company to deliver anything over 1.5m in length to Scotland charges £40 delivery!).

    So, anyone know of a source in Scotland that delivers, or have a van big enough I can borrow? Might actually just get a quote from the Man With a Van as well...

  2. 'Old' run is 2 years old now, put together by my own fair hands (which weren't so fair by the end).

    Sorry as a non-drivist I can't help, however, I quote;

    2.7m of plastic just 'aint gonna fit inside a Mini

    you just aren't thinking big bean!

    You could buy 3m of it, cut it into 3 x 1m strips perpendicular to the corrugation and then glue them back together with a bit of overlap when you get home?

    I think we need a community long-wheelbase trailer

    More importantly, we need community ninja-turtles cycling outfits!

    Is it too big to go on the roofrack of our estate, Anth? What are the actual dimensions?

  8. The problem with roof mounting is this stuff catches any wind and twists and turns really really badly (2 years ago I got it back on the roof of our original Mini - no roof rack on this one - and it was all over the place. Granted it was also howling a gale...).

    Got a couple of options I'm mulling over, but I'll keep you in mind!

    (biggest sheet will be 2.75 x 0.76m)

  12. You may yolk, but it's eggcellent lightning protection.

    If you're going to paint it that colour you should lose the struts, chamfer the corners and use putty around the joins for that fake-weld effect so that it looks even more like it's made out of metal, thereby repelling foxes as well as the much more easily-fooled lightning.
