I've had an email in to info@....

I work as researcher at the Institute for Advanced Sustainability Studies in Potsdam (Germany) in the research project Co-Creation and Contemporary Policy Advice. After work (and often during as well) I’m a cycling activist in Berlin. We founded the organization Changing Cities e.V. four years ago to be the legal person for our campaign for a cycling law (which was successfully passed in 2018, Germany’s first!).

The IASS works closely with the German government, we apply a transdisciplinary approach to jointly find solutions that help us initiate, support and scientifically accompany the transformation to sustainable development. I’m interested in your experiences in Edinburgh in the realm of cycling policy, both regarding politics and administration.

Our research team is planning a research trip to Edinburgh from October 14th (late afternoon) to 17th. The goal is to learn more from the experience of Scotland after the Public Services Reform Act 2010 and the National Perfomance Framework, in particular as far as it concerns the growing expertise that Scottish public institutions gained over the last years in designing, initiating, and implementing participatory policymaking (community planning partnership).

In exchange, if interested, I’d be happy to do a talk or hold a presentation on the experience of cycling campaigning in Berlin, for example on how citizens put a cycling law on the agenda and pushed it through parliament.

Would you have some time to dedicate to us? If so, it would be great if we could visit you/meet you at some point during our stay in Edinburgh.

    All the best from Berlin,

Anyone interested, in getting back to him?

I've passed this along to the WCFS. Might also be worth sending to Daisy N?
