This is the hut in the grounds of gallery of modern art - has an Esse Stove.

Was supposed to sit in grounds for three months then go to Assynt but has proven too popular.

The bothy project does have Inshriach Bothy round from aviemore and sweeney's bothy on Eigg.

You can apply to go either funded or not if an artist looking to spend a week off grid. You can just rent them too.

Bed for two, floor for two more.

Both have wood burners. One you have to heat the water in the stove, the other has a back boiler.

Not bothy bothies but still bothy-ish

I am sculpturally slightly annoyed by Pig Rock Bothy. It is very clever, but to be completely satisfying the posts should follow the angle of the gables. Obviously this would mean fancy foundations and bracing.

    Idea:

    CCE Bothy Opera

    1) I go to Inschriach to write the libretto
    2) @algo goes to Eigg to write the music
    3) @gembo goes to the GMA to test, rehearse and perform

We communicate by carrier gannet, urðr, eddie currents or Ouija board.

That proposal is a winner, alas entries for the coming season (ie winter when they can nae rent the so called bothies closed in September). We could apply for next year, tho likely we will all be off grid by then.

I liked the one in cairngorms as you boiled the water in an urn then transferred it to the shower bag.

The one on Eigg was bit more glamping back boiler set up.

I am off to assynt now (via Perth, on a train that just goes to Perth, who’d a thunk’d it, Perth is the destination)

North wind doth blow for the wet ascent of Suilven tomorrow but rain will abate. Not sure Pig Rock Bothy strong enough to survive Assynt but then the other two are still in their remote spots

Opera needs a name, how about Outlander D’Amour (requires smidgin of knowledge of early Police albums, which I ALWAYS PRONOUNCE IN STEWART COPELAND ACCENT. His dad was in CIA and chums with Kim Philby)

Kearvaig Pipe Club. You can join by going to Kearvaig Bothy in Cape Wrath and smoke a pipe. Or any other bothy with a member of the KPC and smoke a pipe.

Chaps or chapettes. No Daily Mail readers. They are against the commercialisation of bothys by the MBA and have a song about this.

Kearvaig Bothy is the one with the very large pipe on the outside wall.

The writings of the KPC very bloke-ish. Also some dodgy American football photos but one funny letter suggesting a couple from Sussex had completed the NC500 twice whilst dead.
