Last week I was considering how much longer I could wear them on the commute. Today felt like an answer.

Will defo get to end of the month, but not sure how far into Nov before I crack.

Hell will freeze over before @Hankchief wears them...

I wore tights this morning, but that was due to a laundry oversight- no clean shorts. I tend to have tights and shorts available throughout the winter- no point wearing tights on a balmy 10 degrees...

You'll be shocked... I've been riding to work in civvies lately, so my knees have been covered.

When we get a summer, I will attempt to test the boundaries of our dress code...

For my not particularly hairy legs 5C seems to be the comfort threshold.

I was glad to have my long johns on this morning for the West Lothian's -3C (feeling like -7C according to @CC.CC's app). But after reading this thread and not to look too soft I cycled back in shorts

Shorts for me today. Underneath my Endura tights. This morning's commute in from the windswept beyond of Midlothian also required t-shirt, merino l/s top under windproof fleece, Buff, woolly hat and winter gloves. I am not currently using the torpedo because my ankle is still not right.

There is a very definite temperature change that is roughly consistent with the city bypass, south of which is, effectively, the snow line.

My brother bike commutes to work year round in Norway (near Oslo).

He is not a shorts wearer by most standards, but he does, channelling his inner school child, insist that any "sports" activity should be done wearing shorts.

Therefore his colleagues at the hospital think he's insane cycling around in minus 20 with bare legs.

Leg warmers mean i can wear shorts all year - and a reflective lower shin part is great now that almost any commute requires a bit of darkness

  10. I've been wearing my 3/4-length bib shorts for a few months now. I have't really noticed any difference on the exposed shins between it being around 10 - 12C in the morning to now when it can be down to around 1C on parts of my route.

I'll likely be digging out my longs once it starts getting regularly below zero on the majority of my route, though.

So nice to be back in shorts this morning. But my legs are pretty dirty now.

I have waterproof shorts on today. I think the washing machine has removed all the waterproofing.

My legs are toned & scrupulously clean, as always.

Possibly the least interesting post on CCE ever. Against stiff competition too.

couldn't bring myself to find the longs or brave the rain this morning.

Drove instead. Now sitting a puddle of shame and mild self loathing. I know it's 'only' cold cold rain, but at 0730 this morning I just couldn't steel myself sufficiently.

I almost took the bus. Cold lingering a bit and rain thrumming.

Pulled on my rubber big boy trousers and styled it out.

@Iain McR Haha! Did you colleagues ask you why you were wearing jeans?

Shorts day for me. The rain was surprisingly warm this morning and despite cycling in my non-waterproof stuff ("surely it is going to stop any minute!") and getting quite wet I wasn't too cold. But then I had a tailwind.

Voluntarily went out for run at lunchtime quite comfortable under the wetproof but the rain was really going for it.

I was going a bit of standing around in exposed places at various points over the weekend so had tights on under my shorts. Back with bare legs this morning.

    Yes, another shorts day!

I hope tomorrow morning won't be too cold because there is no way all that water is going to disappear today.
