Came through on the E-G train the other week, and noted the ticket checker counting up bikes (and passengers) Seems that this had been going on for a few weeks. Anyone else noted this?

A couple of weeks ago the ticket inspector on the Borders line counted three bikes on a rack meant for two and I fessed up that mine was the third. The other two cyclists I'd sat beside for numerical support pointed out that "we were here first" which didn't help. I said sorry and the inspector left it at that.

Almost tempting to invite 'bike-count' reports, especially where it is clear that Scotrail's front line staff are making measured decisions, backed by a clear understanding of what is practical and safe relative to the number of passengers and other operating conditions at the time.

Managed operation of cycle traffic already sees significant use of trains to Ardrossan for the Arran Ferry, and as observed by @cyclingmollie on the Borders railway route.

I was on the Glasgow to Oban train in June and the bookings were closely checked for that. I got the distinct impression that if you hadn't booked your bike it was not going.
