Audax has clearly taken a dark turn

‘The Czech said that during the 1987 Tour of Britain, he and Sutton had used a toilet at a McDonald’s in Edinburgh that had, “syringes all over the place from bike riders”.‘

    Toilet. McDonald's. Edinburgh. 1987.

There could have been other reasons why there were "syringes all over the place".

Clearly the Czech rider has never read Trainspotting.

There was no McDonald's in Edinburgh in 1987. They may have meant the Burger king on Princes street or one of the Wimpey's or Spud-U-Like

That's true! The nearest one was probably the McDonald's in the Metro Centre, Gateshead. I do remember the first McDonald's in Scotland opening later in 1987, in Dundee. (The Wimpey in Dundee had been closed down some time before by environmental health inspectors!)

That's interesting and in the context of warring character assassinations bizarrely coming out of a GMC Fitness to Practise hearing, possibly important.

Under cross-examination, Palov conceded he had not visited the toilets in question “with Sutton” and that it may not have been a McDonald’s – “It could have been a different restaurant.”

However, he denied making a false statement.
