I have spent too much time thinking about cat emotions. No cat has ever thought about cat emotions?

@iwrats or indeed ever had an emotion?

Though it is hard not to impute Pride when a wee dead mouse is brought into the house for you?

That I don't know. It is very touching when a cat seeks out your company for reasons not directly connected with food and central heating. Hard to model cat behaviour without notions of (dis)pleasure? No cat has ever tried to model human behaviour?

@unhurt is convinced - I think - that the archaeological record indicates that cats domesticated themselves and humans had little choice in the matter. This would explain a lot.

Are you sure it's "cats domesticated themselves" rather than "cats domesticated humans"?

You mean cats built houses and invited shivering proto-humans inside to warm up at the fireside and eat mouse scraps?

And now we've assumed responsibility for the upkeep of the whole arrangement?

    It figures.
