Looks like the private equity owners Bridgepoint have loaded a tonne of debt onto the business before beginning a systems merger and lay-offs. Isn't capitalism UK-style great?

CityCyclingEdinburgh was launched on the 27th of October 2009 as "an experiment".
IT’S TRUE!
CCE is 16years old!
Well done to ALL posters
It soon became useful and entertaining. There are regular posters, people who add useful info occasionally and plenty more who drop by to watch. That's fine. If you want to add news/comments it's easy to register and become a member.
RULES No personal insults. No swearing.

No mention of the important issue of whether Wiggle will still be providing Haribo with orders?
Has CRC lost the plot and failed to keep up with the market?
They sent me a link to a survey today with a question about why I cycle giving these reasons:
Just for fun / With friends
Health & Fitness
Competitive participant
Elite / Pro athlete
Mindfulness / Moments of solitude
The rush
No mention of utility cycling, ecological reasons, avoiding public transport or because it's faster than driving.
@acsimpson - probably copied from a running site. They just think of as sport and all these are standard to almost anything - except cycling!
Bike as car accessory etc
@laidback. Indeed, but it's still disappointing for such a large retailer. They did list commuting as one of the purposes for cycling so not entirely ignorant. Almost like different teams asked the different questions.
Wiggle seem to focus on the P.E. end of the cycling market. More profit there?
They are next to useless for anything utilitarian (unless generic like brake cables). So I guess the survey isn't surprising given that mindset.
It wasn't always so. I rarely use them these days.
I gave up on wiggle many years ago though I still use their wee bottle opener on my key ring
I am happier paying ten times the wiggle price in a local bike shop
@gembo - I am happier paying ten times the wiggle price in a local bike shop...
Do Cycle Service know? ;-)
@laidback, I was leant a lock by said emporium only the other day. As I returned it I noticed the key was still in my pocket and tried to return it, but was too slow to avoid my scolding.
Their dhb in-house gear is very good. You can get semi bargains on components but you’ve still got to fit it! For most componentry other than basic stuff like saddles, brake pads I’d rather just go to my LBS because it’s worth paying extra for a competent human fitting it. I’d take a Vitus DI2 though
Tried some dhb shorts once but had to send them back for being rubbish. Might stock up on Kool Stop v-brake pads, unless Spa sell than as I was going to treat myself to a wheel I don't have to build myself. Have just replenished my heap of Endura Humvees.
