Artful prankster creates Google Maps traffic jams by walking a cartful of old phones around Berlin

"A German artist has had a bit of fun with Google Maps after tricking its free satnav service into displaying traffic jams – by walking around with a hand cart full of mobile phones."

As we all know, high powered computing systems are foolproof and incapable of error…

I shared this to @chrisfl on Twitter - so if you see him out and about with a barrow full of phones you'll know why.

Someone also said something - I THINK on Twitter - about possibilities to replicate but with just a load of organised people & their phones. I'm thinking like a Google-maps hacking flash-mob.

Pop up PoP plan (if we knew it would work?)

The stunt amused me for its cleverness, making you think about how systems work, and for its "hack" value, but I don't think it would be a good idea to try to emulate it as part of PoP; it would just annoy people, which is surely not the message we are trying to put out?
