    - proper physical separation between vehicles, bikes and pedestrians
    - distinct colour to show separate use
    - unidirectional
    - smooth surface

    Not sure how long these lanes are in total or how junctions are dealt with but this is how Leith Walk should have been done and it’s what is needed in all planned cycle routes.

    I need to organise a research trip to see how it works. Lots of colonial era cities have segregated bike lanes in suburbs and on main routes into cities, but not many actual in CBDs.
