Wanting to rebuild our Thule trailer wheels, but I'm struggling to find suitable rims. Pretty much have to stick with the OEM hubs, 24 hole. There is a real lack of 24 hole 406 rims. (I even started looking for 24" rims but... no)
Recommendations gratefully received!
I would probably buy 32 hole rims, and lace radially* in 4 groups of 3 per side, leaving one hole empty between each group; once laced you have effectively 4 groups of 6 with two holes between each group.

Arellcat’s suggestion produces something that looks most interesting.
A less ‘odd looking’ solution would be with a 28 hole rim.
From experience of matching 16” rims to SA hubs I’d go for a 20 hole rim.

I presume fewer spokes will be perfectly fine for required use.
Given that the cheapest option appears to be a 36h rim from SJSC, you could try lacing 24 spokes as 3 groups of 4, each side, leaving two holes between each group per side, although this leaves 4 spoke holes empty between the three effective groups of eight.
Alternatively – and this would be my preferred option I think – try lacing 24 spokes as 6 groups of 2, each side, leaving one hole between each group per side. This leaves only two spoke holes empty between the six effective groups of four, and ought to give the wheel more lateral strength for trailer duties.
Got a couple of matching 32h Velocity Aeroheat rims here at LB but maybe too flash for trailer duties :-)
Other assorted used 20" rims on surplus wheels can look at in basement. No 24h only 36h or 32h.
Brick Lane Bikes Big Mama have 20" rims but often have to be ordered up.
Thanks all. Unfortunately they can’t be laced other than in the stock configuration because the hub includes a kind of plastic thing that is slotted for the spokes (and the bearing race is in the plastic thing)
