    But, parking...

As a result, the council altered their plans by adding additional parking spaces near concerned premises - though SWEM and councillor Rust feel this was not enough.

"Our officers, who have a great deal of knowledge in this area, identified this measure to provide an alternative safe cycling route to the Union Canal and Water of Leith, alleviating pinch points, which have been an area of concern for many years and are a particular issue as people attempt to physically distance.

Of course most of the people concerned about driving/parking in ‘their’ streets won’t know or care much about such things.

Odd how these anti-LTN, anti-spaces for people groups always end up in lock-step with the local Tory party. Not occasionally, or sometimes. Always.

“in lock-step with the local Tory party”

It might be the other way round, but...

Why don’t the Tories advocate a return to the days before cars, or at before their domination of public space and (too many) people’s minds?

Yeah, I'm always surprised by some of their very specific exceptions to law&order. For example, the gate illegally blocking the access to the Water of Leith at the old Splash warehouse conversion. If it was blocked for cycling reasons, the Tories would be all over it in the EEN. Instead, silence...

So they've employed the same "graphics person" as the Keep East Craigs Arterial group. With Webber's involvement in both I can't say I'm surprised.

The bicycle and cyclist presented as huge and terrifying, larger even than the house, never mind the car.

EDIT - Dang - first time I try and post an image and it doesn't work. Anyway - I implied that the logo should actually be the free parking square on a Monopoly board.

Potential further travel restrictions to drive down Covid levels have been signalled by the Scottish Government as its own figures confirmed car journeys increased after the start of the lockdown last week.

I think this is the third EEN article on this non-story. The council responded to the FOI by giving a factual answer on the number of formal complaints received and also said that there have been lots of other responses.

Clearly this wasn’t getting enough clicks, so go get a lengthy quote from Hunter and give it another go.

Aztec Camera released Oblivious as a single in 1982 off the sublime album High Land Hard Rain (second only to Swordfishtrombones for me in 1982). Anyway it reached no 78 in the charts. They gave it another go six months later reached no 18.

The bots that run EEN, regurgitate stories and have more stamina than we mere mortal fact checkers.

    Circulation 18,000

But presumably used by Tory party for wider propaganda.

@gembo: ... most of which was written by Roddy Frame at the ridiculously tender age of 16. One of the best singer songwriters around and doesn’t get the credit he deserves. His solo album “Surf”, recorded in his front room, is one of my favourites. Used as the theme for the similarly underrated series Early Doors.

Bin lorry partially blocking a local street. I had bumped into a neighbour and was chatting in a distant manner on the corner pavement.

Taxi and faux-by-four come nose to nose trying to get round the lorry. 4x4 driver indicates we should allow him to drive on the pavement. I indicate that his aggression will not stand, man.

He reversed to allow the taxi past.

@stickman, amphetamines, guitars and fame.....it’s a small world but you’ve grown

Great theme tune to fabulous show. The moment where the ridiculed Granny sings Angels is what you might call an Epiphany.

Makes me nostalgic for pubs. We had the DVDs of that series

West Lothian Council seem to have fallen and banged their head in Kirknewton. They have claimed the cycle lane as pavement. Now that ain’t right. Using batons etc. protecting the peds from the cars but forcing the cyclists well out into primary at the bit the drivers like to speed by you after the level crossing heading back up to the A70

    @gembo

When I was there this morning I turned right just before the LC up past Ormiston Mains, and up to the Womble instead of the drag up through Kirknewton. New road for me so a doubleplusgood choice.

P.s. I'm the "lower case" kenny, not the "upper case" Kenny up thread. Wave.

@kenny - you went up Leyden Hill. From what you say. What was the ice like?

@wingpig, sensible guess but depends when lower case kenny went up Leyden Hill. It has looked tres sketchy of a morning.
