Not empirical as no baseline and people were starting to ignore lockdown last week on the hot day etc

    But just for a laff

    1. I had been up at Colzium Art Farm again recce-ing the route up West Cairn post lockdown.
So I was at the little slip road on the corner waiting as I could hear a car coming at speed. After the car two cyclists came by together (maybe flat mates or partners who can say). They were then joined by their mate and the 3 of them proceeded to cycle together (men age 30-40). My inside voice said You fecking Dominic Cummingses. But outside I went thumps on the pedals and burnt them going up to the crest then tucked like an old blanket when the quickening kicked in and departed.

I was then caught by the Edvald Boasenhagen lookalike who was not part of the trio. I know I cant catch him, he is 20 and a machine. I still chased him to the Kirknewton turn at which point I was overtaken by one of the trio who then immediately slowed and turned down to Kirknewton, His name was Dick.

Though they were admiring my green Torm long sleeved top, was a bit chilly this a.m.

Lockdown seems to be over in England. Twenty three days from contact to death on average.

There were certainly multi-household groups out in Edinburgh at the weekend. Maybe we can only lean the hard way?

lockdown over on FRB last two days

separate gangs of a dozen tanned lads larking about on the footway yesterday and today, no way they all share a residence

we're not talking kids here, they're in their late twenties

Yeah I've definitely noticed a step change in the last few days.

Not sure the lack of immunity and risk of second waves is really understood.

This could get messy. Really hoping it doesn't.

What's happened in Wuhan, China and Italy? They are ahead of us, so should help to know if they've had a second wave or not.

From what I can tell they are back to normal in China, but I've hardly seen anything in the news about it

@neddie, what happened in these places is they had a proper lockdown for starters. Enforced very strictly. Widespread or even compulsory wearing of face masks after easing of lockdown. In China there's a massive test and trace programme in order to catch any second wave before it hits Anglo-Saxon proportions.

Track and trace, masks, continued softened social distancing makes cross country comparisons tricky.

The effects of seasonality are also unclear. Brazil is hot but also mounting an utterly useless response, so it's a messy datapoint.

@neddie: China imposed a lockdown on the city of Shulan after cases were found there. Might not be a “second” wave, just the first one hitting later than Wuhan. As said above, the Chinese lockdown measures are far more intense.
