    A section of Princes Street in Edinburgh will be closed for two weeks from June 15 for essential repair work to be carried out by Scottish Water.

    The westbound carriageway between South St David Street to the Mound will be closed.

    Trams will still be running in this area, but all other traffic, including taxis and buses, will be diverted along George Street and down Frederick Street.

    Perfect time to do it - Princes St is deserted anyway.

    (I came home through Holyrood Park yesterday and was reflecting on the irony that there was almost certainly more traffic there than on Princes St...)

    @fimm, Holyrood Park the preferred driving through route from south of the city centre to Portobello beach, Musselburgh, and dog walking opportunities further into East Lothian?

    No traffic lights at junctions, only one pesky pedestrian crossing to deal with. Nice scenery out the window. A driver's dream!

    @fimm

    Holyrood Park as had over 50 comments asking them to close. Of course Council only control roads to park not in it. It is one of the 'business as normal' areas that needs changed rapidomento.

    Lesley Macinnes is meeting HS again to give them the good news that Queen's Drive has been voted to be a top bike friendly 'street'.

    Couldn't CEC close the roads that lead to Holyrood Park?

    Lesley Mc could threaten to. The entry at Commie Pool must belong to the people? Then negotiate?

    Might need section open to get tot he Palace car park and close everywhere else?
